Aurangabad
district has been acquiring a new identity by taking a quantum leap in industrialisation.
The registration of about 3500 industrial units has turned the district
into a bustling centre of activity. World-famous Ajanta and Ellora caves,
the Daulatabad fort, Bibi Ka Maqbara, the historical watermill, Paithan
town and its association with Sant Eknath and the massive Jayakwadi dam
and the Khultabad fort are some of the places of tourist attraction. Dr.
Babasaheb Ambedkar chose Aurangabad for spreading literacy among the downtrodden.
Swami Ramanand Teertha led the people’s struggle against the oppressive
Nizam regime from Aurangabad. The Ajanta-Ellora developed plan, launched
with aid from Japan, will soon enhance Aurangabad’s prestige as an
international tourist destination.
