Nagpur
City, the second capital of Mahrashtra, is at the geographical centre of
the country. One of the six “Zero Mile” is located here. Nagpur
has been adjudged the second greenest city of the country. It is also famous
as “Orange City” owing to the production of the succulent fruit.
The seat of the Bhosla empire which ruled Bengal, it was the capital of
Central Provinces. It is a pilgrimage place for Buddhists as Dr. B.R.Ambedkar
embraced Buddhism along with millions of his followers at Nagpur. Dhapewada
is known as Pandharpur of Vidarbha. The Kalidas temple of Ramtek which also
houses the Sanskrit University, the 5-Star industrial estate at Butibori,
the National Fire College, rich deposits of minerals like manganese and
coal, the largest Central Jail of the State, the biggest Medical College
of the State, the University established in pre-independence era, the beautiful
Dragon Palace of Kamptee are some of the well-known features of Nagpur district
